Inverey lies west of Braemar on the minor road. There is ample parking on the grass beside the road.

Follow the track south from Inverey up Glen Ey, to the split in the track. Take the left hand option south to Altanour Lodge. It is possible to cycle this far up Glen Ey. Lock the bike and then walk up the path of the Allt Beinn Iuthan. At NO070803 turn left steeply up the ridge to gain the summit ridge. Follow this to the summit of Beinn Iuthan Mhor. (13kms. 700m. 5hrs. 10min.)

The route back is the same as the ascent although to vary the route the horseshoe of Mam nan Carm and Beinn Iuthan Beag is also possible. Whether you walk the horseshoe or return by the uphill route, the route aims to get to the end of the path in the Allt Beinn Iuthan. From here descend the path then track back to the car park. If a bike has been used the final 8km is quite fast. (13kms. 0m. 3hrs. 50min.)
