Glas Tulachean sits along the side valley north east of the Spittal of Glen Shee. Quite a remote hill, but easily accessible. The main feature is the deep classical coirre making the hill easy to make out fromm the east. The ascent has now been made easy by the development of a number of shooting tracks that have appeared on the hill in recent years.
The best place is to park on the old road at the Spital of Glenshee. parking on the side of this road is OK.
Follow the tracks on the south side of the rive. First find the start that goes south west away from the motel. Soon this turns rightto follow the direction of the river, north west. This track is followed to the summit. Not really exciting. the track goes through two small wooded areas before descending to the river level. Then is followed to Glen Lochsie Lodge. from here is a steep ascent up the south ridge all the way to the summit. A trig point marks the summit to the east of the ridge of ascent. (10.0kms. 714m. 4hrs. 20min.)
The route back can be by the ascent route, or follow the next ridge over to the east. The track down this ridge does not go all the way to Glen Lochsie Lodge but a way can easily be found down the final 200m to meet the uphill track and return to the Spital of Glen Shee. (10.0kms. 0m. 3hrs. 0min.)
