These two hills lie in the heart of the Cairngorms and so any route to them involves some significant distance on appropach. Once on the hills they give some good views over the whole of the Cairngorms.
There is a large car park at the Linn of Dee that gives easy access to the Cairngorms from the south. Often busy especially in the good weather. Sitiuated at the Linn of Dee on the minor road west of Braemar.
From Linn of Dee cycle along the track W to White Bridge and then up Glen Dee to just past the small plantation, NN990909. Head up the E ridge to Carn Cloich-Mhuilinn. From here walk NW then N to reach the summit of Beinn Bhrotain. The summit is marked by a trig point mark amidst the wide flat summit. Stony top to this hill.(14kms. 790m. 5hrs. 40min.)
Leave the summit NW over stony ground to the bealach. Ascend Monadh Mor along it's main ridge. Monadh Mor has a long flat summit marked by a cairn situated in the northern half of the summit plateau. Often covered in snow well into late spring. (3kms. 150m. 1hrs. 10min.)
Leave the summit N along the main ridge to gain the outfall from Loch nan Stuirteag. Now descend Glen Geusachan keeping to the W and then S bank. Join the track along Glen Dee and pick up the cycle to return to the road.(19kms. 0m. 5hrs. 30min.)
