CORVID-19 is still with us even though most restrictions have been relaxed in Scotland. The risks of infection are lower if outside, there is still a risk if mixing in large groups. Even so, please do not go out in the Cairngorms, or anywhere else, if you are showing signs of Corvid-19 and when out walking make sure you give people space - 1m at least and preferable 2m. Remember that if it feels too crowded then you can walk away and try somewhere else, the hills will still be there tomorrow. Also remember the MRT. They will come out to rescue you but they should not have to put themselves into danger from this virus.

A number of these routes start and finish at the main Cairngorm car park. Currently there is significant building work being undertaken in repairing the funicular. The site is fenced off to keep people out but there are routes across the work for walkers. Please keep out of this dangerous building site and follow the contractor's instructions.

Carn an Righ is a long way from anywhere. It is possible to climb from the north or the south and in combination with one or more of the near hills. This route ascends from the south in a route that just takes in this peak. The advantage of this route is it is mainly on paths. Some of the lower tracks are suitable for the mountain bike to cut the time.

The best place is to park on the old road at the Spital of Glenshee. parking on the side of this road is OK.

Cross top the north side of the river on the road bridge and take the track on the north bank of the river. This leads through fields and then around into Gleann Taitneach. Follow this track, continuing when it becomes a path to Loch nan Eun. from here go around the south of the Lochan, on the path, to reach the bealach. How head south west down the valley to reach another stalkers path. Follow this around the slopes of Mam nan Carn to the bealach. Ascend the east ridge of Carn an Righ to reach the summit. Pleasant walking on short grass, heather and some rocks. (14.5kms. 700m. 5hrs. 40min.)

The return is via the same as the uphill route. Descend the east ridge and then back along the path. It should be easier to reach the col in the pathless area going uphill. Now folow the stalkers path then track back to the Spiltal of GlenShee. (14.5kms. 100m. 4hrs. 30min.)
